The KoolPlate™ can effectively cool paraffin blocks prior to cooling once prepared according to our instructions. It will cool the blocks enough to offer nice ribboning and by eliminating differences of density between the tissue and the paraffin. It will also generate a condensate that will be liquid instead of frozen ice, giving the operator a “wet” block, something experienced microtomists appreciate.
